Problems of Backward Children
1. Generally, the assignments
given to him either are too difficult or he has fallen too far behind his grade
level to understand and perform the regular classroom task.
2. He lacks motivation to learn.
The learning material has not been made meaningful to him, so he finds little
purpose in learning it.
3. Because of repeated defeats,
he no longer believes himself capable of learning; and thus become failure
oriented.
4. He fears failure and lacks
ability and confidence to initiate new activities.
5. He is flooded with anxiety
produced by the defenses he has created against self-devaluation.
6. He is bitter and hostile towards school and
society because of the humiliation he has suffered.
