Mobile Phone have become an essential part of the daily
lives of Indian adolescents in recent times.

A nationwide survey conducted in 2011 shows the mobile
phones are the most necessary medium of communication for adolescents. With the
rising popularity of mobile phones among teenagers, there are growing concerns
among many adults about the adverse effects of mobile phones on adolescents
health and behaviour :
1.Physical health risks: Excessive use of cell phone
and too much exposure to the electromagnetic field of mobile towers were
reported
a) General
health effects: Self –reported symptoms associated with overuse of mobile
phones commonly include headaches, earache, pain in the hands, back and neck
also perceived concentration difficulties and fatigue
b) Drowsiness: Cell phone dependency
adversely affects the quality and quantity of sleep. This in turn will lead to
increased fatigue, loss of appetite, frequent irritation and lethargy in
adolescents.
c) Brain
tumors and low sperm counts: The electromagnetic radiation from cell phones in
close proximity to the body has found statistical relationship between
increased cancer risks, lower sperm count, and increased chance of infertility when
used for long periods of time.
d) Eye strain and
digital thump: Continually focusing on small screen and typing on small buttons
will be strainful to eyes and thumb in form of repetitive strain injuries. Too
much of texting lead to development of physical symptoms called texting teen tendonitis
