A recent study has revealed that the introduction of potatoes and the resultant increase in productivity and between states for some two centuries.

First domesticated in modern-day southern Peru and northwestern Bolivia between 8000 and 5000 BCE, they were cultivated by the Incas for many years. The early archaeological evidence dates back to roughly 400 BCE.

Potato ,the drought-resistant tuber can thrive in diverse soils.It is grown around the world and is relished by deep frying or steamed or baked.The humble food brought centuries of relative calm and prosperity to Europe after its introduction in the 16th century .

why was the potato chosen

The potato was selected as it can be grown in diverse soil & climatic conditions and is resistance to drought shocks. Its cultivation improved nutrition in periods of cold or drought,helping ease the pressures of supporting growing population .

Royal entry 

Following its introduction into China toward the end of the Ming dynasty ,the potato immediately became a delicacy of the imperial family
