India's Central Reserve Police Force,or CRPF, is an armed force of the Unio of India, with the basic role of assisting police operations in various states to maintain law and order, and deal with violence and uprisings.When needed ,the CRPF helps to ensure that elections are held peacefully,and that law and order are maintained in troubled regions. It is also sent on UN missions abroad to maintain peace.
It functions under the ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India .With 220 battalisons and various other establishments, the CRPF is considered the largest paramilitary force in the world.In 2013,it ushered in its 75th year.
